The 1981 agreement saw the States mutually agree to
the reallocation of water, this time taking into
consideration the needs of Haryana, SYL canal was supposed to be completed in the
next two years.
The agreement allocated Punjab 4.22 MAF, Haryana 3.50 MAF, Rajasthan 8.60 MAF,
Delhi 0.20 MAF & J&K 0.65 MAF. Punjab begun work on canal.
